Smoothies!

Since this is our last semester in Baoding, China we know its going to fly by. We have had such an amazing time here these past two years and we know there will always be a special place in our heart for this town, our students and our friends.

So we are going to start trying to capture moments that make living in China so great- or maybe sometimes not so great.

This wont be the last time you hear about the fruit in Baoding. One of the greatest things about our little town of 1 million are the markets and street vendors. I love going to my veggie lady, egg guy and random fruit stands with the most delicious fresh fruit. Second semester calls for not just the normal oranges, bananas and apples that we get to enjoy all year round, but strawberries and mangoes like I have never had before. When we came back this summer I had to purchase a blender, though rather expensive it was SOO worth it! Up until it started getting colder we would enjoy smoothies with juicy fresh fruit almost every day. During the fall period the peaches were in season and man is a peach smoothie delicious! Now that we are back from vacation the strawberries and pineapples (which were in season before left for vacation) are out and the mangoes will be soon! I can't wait.

Curtis is a very simple guy. He doesn't get into the different smoothies as much as I do. He wants the same thing every time: Oranges, banana, little yogurt, little orange juice, little pineapple juice and sometimes some pineapples. Every time I make him one I take a sip and then say "plah" with a disgusted look on my face. I don't like it at all. Mostly because its too boring for me and really pulpy. I hate pulp. But its doesn't matter what I think. Curtis LOVES his pulpy smoothies and that's what is important. I, on the other hand, like mine sooo smooth. I use all different kinds of fruits. If I use an orange I use the convenient little strainer you put inside the blender to keep the pulp inside. Fruit is so cheap and delicious here. I am really going to miss it. I will share some pictures of our veggie lady, egg guy and fruit stand when its a sunny day and I can capture the perfect picture. Until then, here is a picture of our blender and smoothies from this morning. Can you guess who's is who's?
